Home now but I have a few shots I'd still like to share from our week with the family.
I'm standing with my back to the sand and sea, looking into a 'window' in the Martello Tower at Felixstowe Ferry and through a tunnel into a mirror which (I guess) the current owner has installed at the end.
I find on Google that the owner has converted this tower into a residence and wonder if he/she is a lover of selfies?!
Martello Towers were built along the Suffolk coast in the very early 19th century as a defence against Napoleon and this is one of 4 in Felixstowe.
Thanks for all the interest on my hummingbird hawk-moth which made it to PP.
I have several reasons to be indebted to 365 and all my lovely friends on here. One of them is the wealth of information I'm learning about my own country through researching it online to construct a text to accompany each shot.
I agree Hazel..I can't count the number of times I use google to check things out & find out stuff! A couldn't work this out at all to start with.....wondering how you were down there but up here if you know what I mean!
Imagine a small window on the outside wall of the Martello Tower. The tunnel leads horizontally inside so I'm at the same level as the mirror. It was David, my brother-in-law, who spotted this.
The mirror gives a wonderful effect.. it took me a minute to figure this out, even with your explanation. Well spotted by David... Alice in Wonderland is a great analogy!
I do feel a bit like her, sometimes!!
love that view
