I made a rather overdue visit yesterday to the Hospital of St Cross and Almshouse of Noble Poverty. This circle of votive candles in the side chapel of the Norman church caught my eye.
It was a beautiful, balmy sunny day and I walked across the water meadows.
I arrived as the brothers were coming from their morning service and was lucky to speak with the most Senior of them, Senior Brother John, and take his portrait, of which more tomorrow.
There's something about lighting votive candles that is comforting in any church. Perhaps because we are actually doing something positive for all the things we ask for! I like this simple b/w.
You're too kind Jen - a week of circles - could be a thought!
