Terrific insect capture and contrasting colours. I thought grasshopper but I havent seen one for years . Would be good to enter for the Contrast theme.
Hi Hazel - this is a type of Bush Cricket. A female one with that curved ovipositor. Crickets have a much more 'squidgey' (technical term!) body than a grashopper. A great find and not doing too well on the camouflage thing!
Not good, Pat, hardly any vision and on meds for kidneys. I am making him fish, chicken and rice, - blood test next week.
Thank you, Cherrill. It does not look as if it can fly so I guess it climbed to its elevated position on the acer tree.
This little chap isn't very well camouflaged is he, hope the birds don't spot him.
