Our daughter, Clare, alongside her silversmithing, is now undertaking a joint enterprise: the creation of home wares - bowls, table lamps etc - in cement.
She sent me a couple of photos. I told her we seem to have some affinity with cement: her maternal grandfather had to work in a cement factory in Cossebaude, Germany when he was a PoW; her maternal great grandfather had a job in the cement works near the little village of Claydon, Suffolk where my family lived until I was five.
Clare's business partner photographed her photographing some of their first products in a gallery.
Cement is the new thing! Polished cement floors are all the rage but remarkably expensive to have & they look nothing like capement when finished! A very exciting new venture. Good luck to Clare in her new venture. Such a happy coincidence that your family is so connected by cement.
