Jinks knew this morning from the packing of cases that it was home-time. So he decided to sit with his back to the door to make sure he didn't get left behind. In fact, he had somehow worked out last night that we were travelling home today as he came into our bedroom and got on to the bed twice in the night, something he just does not normally do. We pushed him(gently) off twice and he slept on the mat at the end of the bed.
We've had a good journey, a nice lunch at an enlightened Italian restaurant which welcomes dogs, and now our son, Neil, is cooking the evening meal of chicken and chorizo rice.
Funny you should say that, Graham as he does try to 'doggy-talk' to us. If he wants to get up and sit on the sofa with us, he gives just a little short bark etc etc! (Now you think I'm mad!)
A very intelligent dog I think JInks....as if they could forget you , the most important one!! I think it is great that you can take him with you on your holidays.....we can never do that with our dog. She is a farm dog used to the fields & doing her own thing so would be cruel to take her out among cars & different places. A dog would have loved our trip today & we saw two little dogs like Jinks tied up outside Lakeland today ..they were quite happy waiting for mum & dad. I just said to Harry the next dog we get...if....we will have one we can take with us. Tui had been sick on the kitchen floor when we got home too!!!!
I for sure know dogs can understand us no matter witch language we speaks. (or they just do like they can with great success)
Love the looks of his face
I LOVE Jinks' face! You are doing well with dog-friendly eateries. SOme areas are better than others I think. There's a nice one on the beach in Goring (I think) and loads in Northumberland - I will add winter Cornwall to my list of destinations.
This reminds me of our Border Collie mix we had for years. He never got left when we went anywhere in the motorhome, but I guess he thought he would be. It got so that two or three nights before we left home we had to sleep in the motorhome in our driveway. Otherwise, our pooch wouldn't settle down to sleep in the house. The neighbors thought we were crazy but, hey, we all got some good nights sleep..... Rammie knew he wasn't going to get left.
That's really interesting, Anita and I'm sure that dogs understand much more than we realize. Jinks knows when we are having visitors and runs backwards and forwards to the front door barking excitedly at the time of their arrival and has been known to start this behaviour when they would be leaving home.

I think anywhere west country is more dog friendly - have to look for the eateries of course.
