Radishes

I think I made the grocer happy today. I know I made him laugh. I was doing some shopping and saw these radishes in the produce section. Now mind you, I'm shopping a chain grocery store, so most of the time their produce set up is pretty mundane. But these were beautiful! And I told the produce fellow so. He went on about how he usually trims off the roots. I told him how appealing these were to the eye and unusual to see them there. He looked in my basket and saw I had lettuce and commented that he was going to have to restock the lettuce (and smiled). He went on about his business and stepped into the back. He came back and caught me taking a photo with my phone. I told him I couldn't help it. He apologized again for the roots. I told him that was ok since he was busy restocking the lettuce. We both had a good laugh and went on about our day.
Anyway, I think they're perfect for the word of the day - bright.
You are right--the roots make the difference!

This so reminds me of when I was a girl working on my fathers stall on the market, we sold radishes like this freshly picked and washed along with rubarb tomatoes and lettuce.
