Cribbage board

This was something my grandfather brought back from the "war." I love how the holes for the pegs are not in straight lines. The photo only had a little straightening, a little crop and changed from RAW to jpeg.

I used to play a lot of Crib and Cribbage but I've never seen a board like this. Hand made I guess, and is it bone or ivory or some such?
