Flash of Red 2023 #15 - Still life
Taken earlier in the month as a possibility for a get push challenge, I'm posting this for Wednesday's still life. All received from the time I actually started the nursing part of college until I graduated, these are a blast from my past.
So many memories wrapped up in this. Interesting that nursing turned out to be different than you imagined. I think the same can be said for many of us in roles we go for.
Really great to see that Oh-so-young picture of you in your nursing outfit. Was the capping held in the church? Or were you just posing there for a proud mom or dad on Sunday after service? Another very nice flat lay. I'm so sorry I didn't see this until now.
@mcsiegle It's fine. Hard to keep up some days. The nursing school I went to was originally associated with the local hospital and was essentially a mission hospital with the local Episcopal church right across the street. Our capping happened in the sanctuary of that church at the beginning of our junior year in college. The cross, unengraved until we graduated, is based on the cross the priest wore and was our pin at that time. When we graduated the cross was also engraved on the back with our initials and date. The school disassociated from the hospital when a new hospital was built and the entire program moved to the college in a town 30 miles away. This happened just a short while after I graduated. I did my senior year in the new hospital. Thanks Mary for asking.

Thank you everyone for all your comments. I think technology and ongoing updates in the field had a lot to do with the changes in the practice. Glad I'm retired, but I did enjoy most everything in the 38 years I practiced.
@haskar Thank you for saying so Hannah.
@rensala Thanks Renee.
