Get Pushed Challenge # 578
My partner this week gave me the challenge of a still life. I always struggle with subjects when given a specific style. It competes with my serendipitous style of "Oh look. That could be a cool photo." After some research into what constitutes a still life photo, I found my definition broadened quite a bit. So after thinking about it all week I hit upon this subject.
@craftymeg Thank you Meg. It's been so long since I started this, I hope I can figure out where on the pattern I am. @bkbinthecity Thank you Brian. @tunia Ah, you're so kind to say that Tunia. I guess I want to get it right, so I have to think about these kind of photos for awhile. Plan a bit. @shutterbug49 Thank you Debbie. @pyrrhula I'll bet your mother did beautiful work. Glad to give you some memories today. @wakelys Thanks for saying so Sue. I appreciate it. @casablanca Thanks Casa. This piece in the photo could be 30+ years old. Hope I can figure out where I left off.
Nicely done and I am in awe of your needlework. I've done these on the pre-printed ones but not the ones you have to count it out. I'm sure the end result is going to be beautiful.
Very nice composition. When my children were little I decided to cross stitch their names, child number 3 (who is almost 40) is still waiting for hers 🤣
This is a lovely still-life; this broadens my definition too...thank you. And tells a good story! I like how you set this up so that my eye follows scissors to ring to glasses and stays so well in the image.
@corinnec Thank you Corinne. @rensala Thanks Renee. I think it will be awhile. @olivetreeann The most aggravating thing about counted cross stitch is keeping your place on the pattern. In this photo, the pattern is wrapped around a piece of metal and the long black bars are magnets to surround the place where you will be stitching. @mcsiegle Thank you Mary. @casablanca Thanks Casa. I'll need it. @kjarn Well, did I say I think this piece is probably 30 years old? I understand. Thanks Kathy. @pusspup Thank you. I guess the true definition is a photo of something that is not moving. @cdcook48 Thank you Chris. @taffy Thank you Taffy. I didn't give away any info did I. I guess the bottom line is that a photo of anything that's not moving is a still life. @granagringa Thank you Madeline. I have had a bit of coaching about my photos recently, so I'm trying to remember it.
@bkbinthecity Thank you Brian.

@grammyn Thank you Katy on both counts.
@rensala Thanks Renee. I think it will be awhile.

You have done a great job of arranging the various pieces into a beautiful still life that tells a story.
@farmreporter Thank you so much Wendy.
