A solitary row by rhoing

A solitary row

Clare was busy and Roland was coming in as I was heading out so it was a solitary 6K row. This was taken about 6 p.m. as I was coming back to the dock. What I like about this image is that it is not gray-scaled. This is a “color” image! Given the weather conditions, just not much color about…

Contrary to the information above-right, this was not taken at midnight on January 1, 1980! My point-and-shoot needed some “hair-dryer therapy” to dry out the other night and I didn’t reset the time and date!

A silvery beauty, nice shot Thom. Alone and a lot of time to just think.

Thom - I've taken pics like this before when people think they're b&w - and it's just an overcast day! I do detect a bit of blue on the horizon, We had that kind of day here also. I love the shimmer on the water - must be pretty chilly rowing at this time of year. I did a measly 2,000 meters on the rowing machine before I hit the spin bike today at the gym - was all about the cardio today -tomorrow - I hit the weights!

@digitalrn Thank you, Rick. Actually, I'm not good enough yet for rowing to be second nature and besides, this is my exercise, so this is not your leisurely paddle down the canal. Mostly thinking about not rushing the slide, full extension of arms at the catch, etc. ;)

@sparkleplenty1 Chilly? I guess mid- to high-70s might be chilly to some. We've already hit 80° a couple times! Today it was back to the rowing machine because of the isolated t-storms predicted. But I beat my personal best for 12K by a full 24 seconds — a full second per 500m which is quite gratifying!

Beautiful shot, Thom! It looks so nice and peaceful! :-)

@allisonrap It is a *very* cool "environment" in which to get one's exercise, *Allison*! ;) I get to see blue herons and the occasional bald eagle, too: http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2012-02-07 . Mostly, though, it's just … quuuuuiet and that's a lot of fun!

You were in the 70's today?? Last Thursday, we hit 84 degrees - yesterday, it was 24 degrees when I was driving to school. The wind has been fierce here, although we did manage to hit 48 degrees later in the afternoon, after a bit of sleet. Congrats on beating your personal best. Guess now, I'll have to do better on the rowing machine on Friday - always like to challenge myself (especially if I have a fellow 365'er that does the same). Thanks, also, for your positive comments on my abstract attempts. It's not really what I do, but you make me feel more comfortable about my attempts at it. :)
