A new one: ‘Bent-Line Dart’ by rhoing

A new one: ‘Bent-Line Dart’

Found this little guy (typical wingspan 33–47 mm) on the front door around 10 a.m. Its markings are very distinctive. I had to look through 17 screens of “adult” + “dorsal” + “moth” in BAMONA’s image gallery — http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/gallery — but once I saw an example of this one, there was little danger of mistaken identity. I wish I had captured more of its brushy antennae, but this is what s/he allowed me. Besides, this moth should be appreciated for saving us all from yet another Painted Lady post!

Confirmed at BAMONA as Choephora fungorum (family Noctuidae, subfamily: Noctuinae) or “Bent-Line Dart”; http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/sighting_details/745773
