They had just turned 6 and 4 when my mom died (1991). They were almost-28 and almost-26 when Dad passed away earlier this month. Since they weren't able to come for the funeral, today the girls wanted to go to the cemetery.
I had my camera around my neck as we walked to the graves and I shot some frames of the snow-covered grounds. This shot presented itself because I went back to the car to get a snow brush to wipe off the headstones. With snow brush in hand, I turned to rejoin the girls at the graves and saw this scene; I had to shoot quickly.
With thanks to “plasmaglows” for the simple tutorial — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVvGYDzhKgY — on getting this selective coloring with Photoshop (using an “adjustment layer”).

This is touching. I also visited a cemetery this x mas. It was in the hills of KY, where my Mom was born and raised. Her mom is buried in a family graveyard there...most of the stones feature a handful of names...the only families that lived in this town. My mom's aide name is all over this cemetery. I went with my brother and his two kids. I felt s close to Mom...her elementary school is on the top of the hill with the graveyard. But I also missed her ire than ever...we used to go to the hills in the summer, with lots of family , to visit my granddad'sgrave...he was born on 1898 and died when I was 2. My grandmother lived a other lifetime without him . Til she was 103 ...now they are both there. So I can relate to this picture! I hope you had a good Christmas and a happy new year.
I am sorry for your loss.
