Long shadows … at only 4 p.m.!

Clare & I hauled out the mowers and cut the “yard.” (I don’t say “lawn” or “grass” quite intentionally. We haven’t quite won that battle with the weeds and moles yet!) This is the shadow cast by our 5-gallon gas container.

Typing “5-gallon” reminds me that I think my dad always just had a 1-gallon can for gasoline. And at what, 35¢/gallon?, how much did it cost him to “fill it up”? Fast-forwarding to 2013, how much does it cost me to fill the 5-gallon container at $3.50/gallon? A bit more, I’d say!

Yes, return to standard time certainly gets the sun down by 5 and it will only get earlier.

@skygirl P.S. I took some broom photos today, but I didn't have enough light without flash, so it was a gas can shadow instead. :-\

The grass some how keeps growing doesn't it, but I do think it is coming to the time when we can push the mower to the back portion of the shed, and move out the snow blower, just in case

I'm loving the long shadows this time of year! I'm in Nova Scotia for the last week of our summer here. It will be interesting to see if the shadows are that long and the light as golden back in Southern California!
