Erica

My weekly breakfast at Harbaugh’s with my Cursillo brothers. Erica opened this morning. Turns out she still serves me … even after having me teach an economics class she had to take! (It’s a course for non-majors and her major requires it, as do a few other academic majors.)

Didn’t see the “portraits without people” for February 1–3 for the month’s flash-o-red theme until *after* I posted this portrait of a person…

P.S. Happy Birthday, Dad…
[Today would have been my late father-in-law’s birthday. He helped nurture my interest in photography and I definitely improved over time from seeing his work. He would *so* enjoy this site!]

Cool moment you captured...just a worker doing her work. Did she know you were taking it? and how do you take a portrait without a person in it? and last but not least....bless your FIL for gifting you with the photography bug!

@espyetta Though I asked permission after-the-fact, she did not know I was taking it. It was a hurried shot sitting in my chair when I saw her standing there. (No flash.)
Good catch: Portraits without people? I'd have to go back and look at the "rules"! Yeah, I miss my FIL (as well as my own parents)…

@rhoing I miss my parents every day. It gets harder as the time since you've seen them gets farther and farther away. ;0( I want them back. I am a spoiled baby. haha But I cannot for the life of me figure out how I got to be almost 50 and without my mom and dad. But like everyone else, I just have to deal with it.

Erica looks like she might be a bit tired of work there in that pic. I wonder if it gets very old serving coffee?

@espyetta I'm the oldest among my sibs, so it's weird being the "senior" member of the family. But time marches onward. This May I will be in the role of father-of-the-bride.

I think I caught Erica in a pensive kind of "lost-in-thought" moment. She's a cheerful and energetic young woman, but the photo was taken at 7:30 a.m. and she opened the restaurant at 7. Of course, I don't know how late she might have been out the Friday-night-before… :)

@rhoing Yeah, she could easily be tired. And distracted. Bless her.
I am the baby of my family, but that scares me. I don't want to be the last one left.

And check out this b and w by Ann who is doing b and w this month. She said she hated to change it from color, as she loved the green in the middle of a gray/white winter. But I think this rocks in b and w http://365project.org/olivetreeann/365/2014-02-12
