Well, almost. I had an assist from my favorite cabinet-maker.
Clare’s necklaces have been in her jewelry box — http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2011-11-14 — where they mostly just get tangled — http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2012-11-02
So I shopped for a necklace/bracelet rack, but there just isn’t much commercially-available. A friend confirmed that he hadn’t found anything he really liked for his wife. So I began thinking about making one.
A trip to Lowe’s and I came home with a length of chair rail (!) and drawer pulls. I wanted more thickness than just the chair rail, so I visited the shop of our local cabinet-maker for some ideas or suggestions.
Long story short: Lee McMeen put another piece of wood behind the chair rail and rounded the corners with a router and returned the four pieces to me.
I had given Clare a mixed-bag of drawer pulls expecting her to choose one, but she liked the more eclectic idea of different ones, so here it is, with screws on the back countersunk, of course. Clare painted this one “Mitchell Gold” — http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2014-02-16 —for hanging on a bedroom wall. Another section (chair rails come in 8' lengths!) is in our guest room.
