Preparing for the 2017 solar eclipse!

A couple years ago my brother emailed and asked if his family could come stay with us for the 2017 solar eclipse. Of course!!

There's a solar eclipse this year and another in 2024. Where do the paths of “totality” intersect? Just south of a place called Carbondale, Illinois! If you don't believe me, check it out: http://www.eclipse2017.org/2017/overlap.htm

Indeed, the centers of the paths cross at the lake where I row. But I digress.

My sister emailed this week asking if any plans were taking shape. As it happens, these just arrived: solar eclipse glasses! My brother quickly claimed dibs on the the pair third-from-the-bottom.

Great arrangement. My In-laws have reservations in a motel somewhere for the event. They are really looking forward to it.
