Our microwave predates our 1999 move to this house and it still works. On the other hand, it's a counter-top model and its replacement will be an over-the-stove installation. It should be nice to gain a couple feet of counter space. A display in Arabic numerals rather than Klingon will just be a bonus. ;)

@janeandcharlie When the contractor installed the new one, we told him the outgoing unit lasted more than 20 years. "This one won't last that long," he said. Which begs the question, "Why not?"
Our current over the stove model is going on 11 years. In fact, all of our kitchen appliances are older than that, for a change. It's about time to replace them, which we did not do in the remodel (except the microwave).
