Why aren’t dryer cabinets the same? [Travel-day Filler]
This is — sigh — me being me. Something “clinked” when I removed the lint trap and I just had to get after it.
An electric, or tumble, dryer is not a complicated machine: it's a metal box with a motor and a heating element. But it seems that every single cabinet disassembles differently. Every YouTube video I found said release the spring clips under the top-front edge and lift up the top of the front-loading dryer. I released the spring clips, but it took a while to realize that this wasn't how this cabinet was assembled. Back to internet searches.
Finally, I found a user forum that had my answer, buried in the comments below the question and initial responses. I had to remove a bottom-front panel first. This would expose the screws holding the door assembly and once removing the door assembly I found the screws attaching the top panel to the sides. At this point, however, I had access to this Lint Duct Assembly and could remove and clean it.
Found a button, but what caused the “clink” that started it all? Still don't know.
Knowledge gained? I now know how this box comes apart. :-\
