I saved these (obviously) and glued pairs of them back-to-back ostensibly as “coasters” for mugs of hot coffee (for use primarily in the garage). But where they’ve been residing for many, many years is under [housecleaning] attack in preparation for a full house during the total solar eclipse in April.
The housecleaning endeavor finds lots ’n’ lots of paper getting shredded, set in a pile to be put through the printer (for “temporary” paperwork), or sent directly to the recycling bin. (Curbside trash and recycling pickup is tomorrow.)
Things like this have a different fate: photographed for 365 and then — whoosh! — into the trash.
My favorite of these installation CDs is the one for Juno: “Y2K Compliant.” So that tells you how old these are! The lineup:
• AOL v.5.0,
• Earthlink 2.3,
• Compuserve v.4.0,
• MSN v.2.5,
• Juno v.4.0.
Yeeaahh… I’m a little amazed that all of these companies are still in business in one way or another. (My dad had a Juno email for a time.)
Getting this photo was a little project unto itself, with this not-quite-in-focus result being the best one. I realized my foldio1 has an almost-dead LED light strip, so I’m pursuing a replacement for that. Trying to eliminate all the glare and reflections off the CDs wasn’t easy: I use the Ott Lite and my [new] phone flashlight. Meh. The photo is posted now and the double-disks can go to the curb tonight.

@marlboromaam Yeah, there’s an “installation” I’ve been contemplating photographing-and-posting near the theater for which I’m a volunteer Board member.
