Got this one walking around with a little blue heron. They just never would get close enough to get both in the shot. If you see this as something different, please let me know. It was the closest that I could find.
What nice focus and lighting. Great look at his eye and the reflected feet. His colors are so interesting. Wish we had some. (Or we may and I've never seen one) Fav
Nice shot. I was watching a programme on TV last night about the Queen's Garden. She has a big lake and a large grey heron landed on it near where a mother duck and her ducklings were swimming around. She tried to distract the heron to let her babies escape but he still ate one - swallowed it whole. It was pretty horrible to watch and I thought herons only ate fish :(
@nickspicsnz Wow, I knew that they could eat some really large fish, but never thought that they would go for a small duck. :-( or something like that. Yeah, that would be rather upsetting to see that happen. I thought the egrets only ate fish also, but have seen several of them snacking on lizards from the bushes. Nature!
