Was talking to a gentleman at the end of the pier today that was fishing, and while I was there, he ended up catching 2 of these guys. He very carefully removed the hook and then tossed them back over into the water. If you look close, you'll see the stinger on the upper surface of the tail. Don't touch that or get anywhere's near it. No Stingrays were harmed in getting this shot.
Really nice clear shot - I remember seeing these in the water off the north shore of Long Island down at the cottage - those were the days when they came in close to shore you didn't go swimming!
