Answer - a very strange mushroom. It curved up and out rather that in and down. And it had a nice little pool of water caught inside. Couldn't help myself with the edit - it's so addictive!
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Hi Jackie and Joanna - thanks for your comments. We have been taken over by assorted mushrooms - after the rains. They are really interesting - great for photos.
