Some of the collection is quite outrageous - these pink skeletons actually come to life - start moving in a certain rhythmic action, are videoed and then replayed on the screens above and beside them as they are reflected in the mirror behind them. Is this really art?? The eclectic nature of this multi, multimillion dollar collection and its incredible gallery has made it a must see for most tourists. Locals are encouraged to enter as often as they want - for free.
@homeschoolmom Hi Lisa - amazing isn't it? Quite a few of the exhibits are way out there - but I think that's part of its draw card - the guy who owns it all seems very canny! :)
@woofandweft1 Actually Deborah - I think you would have really liked parts of it - some wonderful examples of crafts from around the world and from different eras. :)
@fbailey -LOL FB - to view it in real life is like - "what on Earth????" I wondered if I should put it up - but decided that it was the least offensive of the assorted "rated X" exhibits!!
Can't say this is really art- seems more like an excuse to display something outrageous. But to each his own- and at least it was bought with private money. Seems to me though the money could have been better spent! But that's just my opinion!
@olivetreeann It's totally crazy - apparently he made a lot of money gambling - then used it all in a huge gamble that this would work. It has brought a lot of money to Hobart so his gamble succeeded. Crazy as it is I would still recommend that visitors go to see it. Some of it is quite regular and excellent art too :)
@dkbarnett Very eye catching! - especially when it's all doing the 3D thing and moving!! It actually made you laugh to watch - all the attention - action, movies and reflections all at once. LOL
