I hate seeing this - it's a turtle's nest which has been found, the eggs dug up and eaten by a fox. We see virtually no baby turtles in the dams and it's nearly impossible to stop the foxes.
@casablanca They are fairly common around here - probably should call them tortoises rather than turtles! They have feet with claws rather than flippers.That's how they dig the holes for their eggs- sometimes rather a long way from the dam! Cheers Rob

I would love to be able to get rid of the foxes - but they truly are as cunning as they are renowned to be!! We're going to try covering any nest that we can find - see if that helps.
