Spotted Emu Bush - an Eremophila. by robz

Spotted Emu Bush - an Eremophila.

Some info on the Emu Bush:
Eremophila species often grow in impoverished sites; in general they are tolerant of harsh conditions, including drought, fire, frost, flooding and grazing - the name Poverty Bush being aptly applied. In addition to this name, they may also be referred to as Emu Bush or Fuchsia Bush.
I thought this might also qualify as an image for the 52 week challenge: Composition Colour Harmony. It is roughly using a Triad Relationship with 3 main colours which are equidistant on the colour wheel - Reddish/pink, Yellowish/green and Blueish/purple.
Intriguing to read about the color wheel spacing. And it works.

Ah, good explanation...the colors work but there is something about this a find a bit jarring...I think I'd like to see the flower softer, or maybe not so close up...that's just me. Now I have to re-look at the color wheel.. Great challenge that I hadn't even noticed.
Hope you won't have too much heat or drought, and least of all, fire to survive!

Such a delicate flower on a bush that is obviously very hardy!!

@taffy Thank you Taffy. All the colour wheel harmony possibilities are new to me.

@granagringa Hi Madeline - thanks for your ideas. I think it might all be a bit too vivid - probably had the camera set on the wrong thing! I tried to tone the flower down a little - I don't think it made much difference. It's a tricky little flower to photo - strange shape and orientation! We've got a week to play with the colour harmony idea - I think the 52 week thing might work out well - it gives you such variety. We haven't had fires up our way -yet! (fingers crossed!) Lightning is always the big worry, especially when there's been a week or two of hot and dry. Sydney has had over 48 deg C and apparently it was over 55 in the middle of the cricket stadium yesterday. You would think it would be impossible to play! Cooler next week! Cheers for now!

@dkbarnett Hi Delwyn - thanks for your interest - it's a funny little flower - quite an odd shape and held at an odd angle to the bush. Hard to catch! Cheers Rob
