Inspired by a sunset..

These huge grain silos at Thallon were painted to reflect the local conditions as seen during a sunset. They are now quite a popular tourist stop.
I can see why too, amazing artwork:)

Fabulous, I've seen most of the Victorian painted silos, but not any like these. Amazing how silo-painting's taken hold so quickly. I love them all.

When I first looked, I thought you had done some clever editing to get the photos on to those silos! What a fabulous idea, they look amazing. Not surprised they are an attraction

@fbailey Hi FB - there's lots of these painted silos popping up around OZ, I don't know it it's always the same artist, but they are amazing. Marnie has seen lots of them - this is my first - so impressive! :0

@roachling Hi Louise - they are so big - I have no idea how they paint them!!

@madeinnl So true -Ko - the grey ones are boring. This guy cheated a bit - they are still grey on the other side!!!

@jgpittenger Very clever - I don't know how they do it!! How would you keep track of what you've just done???

@lynnz Thanks for the Fav Lynn - I think it probably belongs to the artist.... so clever! Cheers Rob

@olivetreeann Hi Ann - they are huge - a bit of a cheat though - he only painted one side!! Very clever non-the-less! It was great to see - the first one I've seen.

@golftragic Hi Marnie - it was your previous photos that made us detour out to Thallon - I loved those ones you put up earlier. This one had lots of colour - was very clever though. I don't know if they are all done by the one artist? :)

@skippysue Thanks Susan - have you seen any of them? This was our first - very impressive!!

@casablanca LOL - I wish I was that clever! Aren't they amazing - It's interesting to think how he kept track of what he had already painted!! Very clever. :)

Oh my goodness, they are fabulous
July 5th, 2018
@robz Maybe, maybe not. It seems to vary quite a lot. But these look like it was the one artist. I'll google it.

@golftragic Thanks for that Marnie - I loved the bit at the end where one artist commented that he never envisioned that picking up a spray can at the age of 12 would result in a career as an artist!. LOL And it's pretty cool that they are going to be on the stamps. :)

What a great way to disguise a lump of concrete.
July 6th, 2018
@robz Yeah, I didn't know about that either. Being wrinklies we get the cheap stamps.

@suzanne234 Hi Suzanne - Marnie just found out that they are going to be featured on the $1 stamp! Great recognition for them and the 2 artists.

@nobled How true! Unfortunately they only did one side!! :)
