They have them at Oxford too! No doubt you already knew this - but it hadn't occurred to me! They are very big - it looks like it might be very tricky!! Probably good that it was a horrible day..... @casablanca
@robz Ha ha, yes they do, but of course Cambridge is superior LOL!! Wise move not to go out if the rain was falling. They are not a lot of fun in the wet! I was in a punt in Cambridge on Tuesday with my house guest. Drier there and great fun.
@casablanca Another reason to be sorry we couldn't fit Cambridge in! And does this mean you can actually control one by yourself? They looked dreadfully tricky!
@robz This time, as my house guest had never been to Cambridge before and hubby couldn't join us for the day - he is an expert punter! - we went in one of the chauffeured ones and so my pal got all the history, banter and anecdotes from the guy punting us too, which was brilliant. I haven't punted myself in 30 years, I let hubby do it! You have to get it right and not leave the pole in the water but once you have the technique, it's fine.
@casablanca Ahh - a chauffeured punt - now that sounds more like us. Oh well - Errol always says that you have to leave something for next time. Will have to start a list I think! :)
@robz Yeah, fabulous, loved the shot. Enjoying your photos from the trip, keep 'em coming. BTW, there was a piece in last Tuesday's (Melbourne) Age newspaper in the Good Food section all about Stanthorpe. Would you like me to send you e-copy?
And a great way to get a different view of the city from the river!
Nice capture.
