Haddon Hall dates back to the Norman Invasion. There is a chapel in the far right hand corner which was constructed at the end o the 1100s. It has been in the same family for approx 800 years! It was left vacant by them for several hundred years - but was well maintained - and hence avoided "modernisation" in some of the more ugly ways of those centuries. It still has its medieval furniture and many original, huge, fabulous wall tapestries. It is fascinating to wander through.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Hi Jackie - we would have loved to but we didn't have time. The Hall was fabulous though - just amazingly original and complete.
@casablanca Hi Casablanca - we just loved this! It is so authentic - and the history is amazing - fancy being owned by the same family for 800years! And they still live there. I think you would really like it. :)
@fbailey Hi again FB - we are having a ripper time. This Hall has been a highlight - it is just fascinating - the huge tapestries were incredible in their own right. Lots of good photo opportunities too... :)
