This was a bit of fun at Hammerfest. This fishing/gas processing town had an "ice Magic" Centre. For the princely sum of 250 Norwegian Kroner ( about $30) you got entry to an amazing array of ice sculptures - all kept frozen in a simply freezing maze of fun artistic sculptures - plus suitable fur clothing, gloves and hoods, plus an introductory Norwegian champagne, plus a very nice Drambuie at the end of the session. All very entertaining!
Ice sculpting is so beautiful. There is a very well-known company not far from me that gives tours of its facility and our photo club was scheduled to go to their ice festival this January. BUT the weather had other ideas and was unseasonably warm when it was scheduled. The company ended up cancelling it! Nice shot!
@rosie00@golftragic@madeinnl@olivetreeann@4rky@casablanca@dhg Hi all - I have to admit that the Ice Magic idea was really due to Anna and Alex - I think the idea of dressing up in furs and drinking nice beverages while admiring ice sculptures (and sliding down ice slides!) really appealed to them. And as it happened it was lots of fun. The Ice Sculptor only turns up every six months or so and does new artworks - they last 6 months till his next visit. Apparently he's quite famous - very talented chap! Thanks for all of your reply's - I really appreciate them! My apologies also for not having much of a chance to view your images! Cheers Rob XX
