Memorial at Hammerfest

The northern Norwegian fishing villages were devasted during the Second World War. Germany used many of these villages as front line stations and hence they were repeatedly bombed by the Russians. In some of the villages only one or two houses were left standing. Many of the villages had memorials such as this.
A powerful angle - sad times for Norway.

Absolutely great PoV to give it such power. And the background clouds are such a good additional frame...and the blue sky on the side of the head..kudos to you for finding this angle.

@madeinnl Hi Ko - I think from memory that this was Hammerfest - a bit North of the Atlantic Road. Is there also a term "Atlantic Wall" which refers to the War? I know we had The Brisbane Line at home. Thanks for the FAV!

@golftragic The war history of this area of the world is so convoluted - very interesting and tragic to many small towns. We had no idea!! :)

@casablanca Thanks Casablanca - it has truly been eye opening to us - so convoluted and so tragic in many places - and it seems to still have implications to this day. We had no idea!! :)

@robz I'm familiar with the history at a fairly detailed level, but seeing the places first-hand adds a different dimension.
