The Southern Coast, near Vik

This area is about a 3 hour drive from Reykjavik (but it's an interesting drive) and has several fascinating geological features. We went early and the lighting at this headland was spectacular. SOOC

@caterina Hi Caterina - thanks for your comment - this place had so much going for it - there were actually 5 outcrops but at this stage we could only see 1. It also had the columnar basalt, huge caves eaten into the basalt cliffs and the black sand beach - pretty amazing. :)

Hi Casablanca and 4rky - for once it didn't really matter that there was already a pile of people there - I liked their silhouettes too. It was a great place. This is where the columnar basalt was as well.
