Accidental to Intentional. by robz

Accidental to Intentional.

Week 49 - from 52 weeks of Challenges. This week we were asked to look back and identify something that we had learned from this 52 week challenge. With my camera being what it is the discovery of the Spot Metering setting, and what it could be used for, was a real win.
Ooh you are one up on me! Spot metering? Haven't worked out what that is all about yet!

I've recently discovered that, but then forget to change it back!!

Your photography has really changed over the year Rob, it's great fun to follow you

No idea if I can do that with my camera but .....Your results are super!

I like the contrast between these two...dramatically different and showing quite a range.

I think f we had a competition for the most improvement over the year, you’d win for sure

It's such a feeling of accomplishment to tackle something technical and then be able to implement it. Good for you!

I will find out about this! You have a great "can do" attitude Rob.

@casablanca LOL Casablanca - I'm sure your camera has proper manual settings which you can control - I bet you do this yourself! :)

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Oh Thanks so much Jackie - I really appreciate your nice comment. It's all been such a good challenge that I find it continues to enthral. I also think that your project and my project have some similarities - I hope you don't mind me saying that I think we must both be a bit crazy - I identify so much with many of your photos!! :)

@jacqbb Thanks so much Jacqueline - that's such a nice comment!

@taffy Thanks Taffy - and I remember that when I posted the first image you were kind enough to mention to me that the spot metering would be useful for many things eg shooting the moon. Your advice was so helpful - it is indeed so useful! Many thanks Rob

@fr1da Thanks so much Frida! I have no photographic or artistic background so it's all a huge experiment for me. Great fun! :)

@granagringa And that is a lovely thing to say. I really enjoy 365 - and it's mainly because of the lovely people that you "meet" And I also remember how patient and helpful you were, and still are, when I ask stupid questions.... So, thank you very much for helping me so much - it's been a joy. Cheers Rob

@jgpittenger LOL Jane - what a marvellous compliment! Thank you so much - it has been, and still is, a hugely enjoyable learning curve! And the people of the 365 project are so generous with their help and support. So, thanks very much for your beautiful images and your continued interest. :) Cheers Rob

@olivetreeann Thanks so much Ann - the whole year has been a marvellous challenge.

@rosie00 Oh. Hi Lesley. You probably have a much better camera than mine - I think most better cameras have manual settings which allow you to control this type of thing. I just wanted a small camea that could always fit in my pocket - so this setting is pretty handy for me. Thanks for your comment. Cheers Rob

December 10th, 2018

It seems I do have this setting on my DSLR camera!..but I have never used it..
December 14th, 2018
@rosie00 That's interesting! It might be worth a bit of experimentation?
