I feel the same way about feral cats!!!! We have now relocated 16 of them. We do have fox in our woods, but I've never seen one in the backyard. So sad!!!
@olivetreeann Hi Ann - over here the cats and the foxes are about as bad as each other. We never see the foxes either - but we do see what they've done. They have just dug up roughly 15 tortoise nests and eaten the eggs! It's quite distressing. We have actually resorted to getting the council to come in and lay some baits not nice I know but we had to do something.
Hi Frida and Annie - feral cats are terrible but we have also just discovered that our neighbour on the farm two doors down has paid $2000 for a Bengal Cat that she now lets roam free to catch birds that are eating their figs. It's a horrible thought and I can't help feeling there must be some other way of protecting their crops. This cat will be devastating our native birds. :( @fr1da@annied
@robz that's terrible Rob - cat ownership needs to be controlled - mind you if I was stupid enough to pay $2000 for a cat I wouldn't be letting it outside to roam
@annied Apparently Qld legislation requires that cats be restrained to the owners property - but we can't really do anything about it - except maybe trap it on our property and anonymously drop it at the council refuge (The council has set this facility up purposely - this is quite a small community and we can't really afford to be at war with our neighbour!) Cheers Rob
