Pink and grey - no hail today!! by robz

Pink and grey - no hail today!!

Stanthorpe grows a lot of apples and the different farmers use different ideas to protect their crops from birds and hail. These pink nets are the newest thing - they have inbuilt troughs which open up to release any built-up hail onto the gound between the trees. With the old nets the hail used to become so heavy that it tore the nets. The edge nets here are still the old grey type.
Could be 3 different shots....Pink nets??? they look like steel structural framework....

@granagringa It's interesting isn't it - I was really pleased with this - and again - other than a small crop it's SOOC!!

Hail must be so destructive. This is such a clever idea.

@dkbarnett They work really well too - they aren't affected while other are torn to shreds. Unfortunately they are not all this fantastic colour!! I think the pink might be an extra idea to do with the type of light hitting the plant - I believe it is more expensive.
