Love those fasteners, not wanting to confirm my ignorance, but what is a mawson?

Is that an old ice-chest? I seem to remember catches like that on one we had eons ago. Didn't know these were called Mawson doors though.

@suzanne234 You are quite right Suzanne. A Mawson was the brand of the ultimate ice chest in days gone by. This is one where the ice block went into the top compartment and the food into the bottom compartment. It's a nice piece of vintage furniture now - used to store vases!

@golftragic Yep - it's an old ice chest. A bit different with the two doors on the front and a fixed top. The brand was Mawson - it's engraved on the little plaque at the top.

@robz I wondered about that. The ones I remember had the door on top. Interesting about the brand, rather clever. Love the way you've recycled this oldie. We have an dead upright freezer in the shed to store all sorts of things away from any rodents, dust and moisture.

@golftragic It has such nice timber that we just love it. In the old days we used to fill it with ice and use it for parties. Worked like a charm. :)
