@casablanca LOL - the NRL (National Rugby League) people would be horrified to read this! It's what a lot of aussies call football (as opposed to soccer) It's a bit like Rugby but it used to be a lot less gentlemany (if that's a word) Rugby players were never paid but League players always were. There's not much difference these days - they are all paid huge amounts. Errol and I have a small tipping competition - the winner gets a dinner out at a restaurant of their choice. Unfortunately he's winning so far this year!! This was a good chance to try some of the Elements components - it's all proving quite challenging! Cheers Rob
Ha ha, excellent. Sounds a lot of fun to have a family bet going on! I used to watch Aussie Rules a bit when I was in Australia but I never quite made sense of it. I like the Six Nations Rugby and always support Ireland because I saw them play against Italy at Lansdowne Rd when we lived in Dublin and fell in love with Ronan O’Gara and Brian O’Driscoll!
@casablanca LOL - Rugby players always seemed to be more beautiful than League players! Errol made us walk past Lansdowne Rd when we were in Dublin but we didn't actually get to see a game. Dublin was great fun though - it must have been wonderful to live there for a while. P.S. Aussie Rules is mainly played in Victoria and used to be called "Aerial Ping Pong" by us uncouth Queenslanders. I can't make any sense of it either! :)
Aerial ping-pong?? Wash your mouth out, much better game than thugby. At least our players get to kick the ball to each other. Dunno how you can call rugby FOOTball when they mostly throw the ball. Not biassed, of course.
@golftragic LOL Marnie - I had a little bet with myself that this would get a pretty direct response from you!! I must admit I just love the way Melburnians will turn out to support any good sports competition - and Storm is probably my favourite League team - not that I'm a very good supporter - usually fall asleep before the games over! BTW - AFL is growing so quickly up here - lots of junior and women's teams too. :)
