We went hiking today. My son noticed these frozen icy formations, low to the ground, formed around the tiny plants and twigs springing up from the moss. I had never seen anything so delicate and perfectly formed. Almost like the ribbon candy we used to eat as little kids, only more breakable. For scale, this is about 1 inch (2.54 cm) tall. A really fun family day... just what the holidays are meant for. :)
Thanks for taking time to stop by... I appreciate it very much.

These are frost flowers! Great capture! Very cool to see them. I hope to find some sometime! Google "frost flowers" and check out the images. Really neat!
Beautiful capture of a fascinating subject! I've never seen these before. I can see the resemblance to the old-fashioned candy. I'm going to google 'frost flowers' as Montez suggested. Nature amazes!
That is so interesting and funny that you hadn't heard of it before but I guess photography opens our eyes to so many things we might have previously missed. Great capture and glad to have learnt about them.
