Freedom Courtroom by rosiekerr

Freedom Courtroom

Old Courthouse, St. Louis... home of the Dred Scott slavery case, where he sued for freedom from his master. This is the courtroom in which he was (finally) declared a free man (by consent of the parties, after all the litigation is done).

The historical link is here: http://www.nps.gov/jeff/planyourvisit/dredscott.htm

Dred Scott died one year later, after over eleven years of litigation (which began when he was 50), after being declared a free man.

I wish my pano skills were better, but this is a lovely architectural space, as well as a meaningful historical space.

Thanks for your generosity towards my reflections shot from yesterday. So much appreciated.
Gee, that's interesting history Rosie, thanks for sharing.

To have such an historic spot in your 'back yard' is pretty wonderful. The wide angle works here well.

It actually looks quite serene here but the history defies that! A really good pano as it doesn't look like it! fav

Beautiful. I wonder how many times we walk past local places and have no idea of the history they contain. Thanks for posting this.

I feel such a rush of emotion every time I see this image, in person or in photo. Calm and serene now, but not truly accurate of the actual events.
