This is a very old Japanese Maple, which I really like, because of its old twisted trunk and root system. I gave it a try in sepia, to bring out texture and form.
Thanks so much for taking time to visit... I do appreciate it.

Marvelous detail on the twisty trunks. I wonder re cropping off the top to just below the leaves so that the wonderful shapes and grace are even more evident?
@jgpittenger A very good suggestion. I tried that on another shot, but (to my eye, anyway) it was a bit confusing as to what I was seeing. It could have been the shot I was working with. I'll have to give it another try. :)
I think you have a few different options here...This image works for me as it's clear what I'm seeing, but I am drawn to the wavy curvy branches that appear to be holding up the sky. If I crop (the old 'create a finger square' way), I think you have anothe rimage of the main tree emphasizing the branches going up and the roots of the tree. In this version, the roots don't play a big part but a smaller one, they'd really pop. And I think Jane's @jgpittenger suggestion is worthwhile too. What a fantastic shot with all these possibilities!
Stunning image of this gorgeous tree! Lovely backlighting which helps show the branches off to perfection! Taffy @taffy and Jane's @jgpittenger suggestions sound interesting and it would be good to see the results of their suggestions. Huge fav for this magical version!
