I had a chance to view (and photograph) one of the few California Condors currently in captivity. These are some of the world's most endangered birds (22 birds in 1982), although people are working very hard to reverse this trend.
Given that there are so few of them, maybe it would do to be a bit less prudish?? ;)
Back to reality - the California Condor is North America's largest flying bird, with a 9 foot wingspan.
The World Center for Birds of Prey, in Boise, is working to breed and release new condors into the wild. They have about 50 condors - this fellow was #46.
A long day of traveling back to the midwest... I am kind of sorry to leave the beautiful landscape and treasures of nature behind.
