I stopped to speak to this Thatcher today as he was re thatching my Granny's bungalow which she lived in more than 50 years ago. I thought that thatching might be a dying trade but he said that there are so many thatchers about that they are even travelling from round the country offering to re thatch people's roofs. It has special poignancy for me because although this is the back of the bungalow, it's where I used to go and feed my Granny and Grandad's chickens and it brought back many happy memories of childhood.
Lovely country scene!!There are quite a lot of thatched cottages in nearby villages, and our local pub is thatched. My cousin lives in a thatched cottage(used to be a Post Office until it was closed down, now just a village store) on Earl Spencer's land.
