Centaurea Montana

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is a Michaelmas Daisy which is just flowering in my garden (I am wrong!!!!!). I liked the sunlight shining on this flower and took this just before the sun moved round behind the trees
Rosie,I'm pretty sure this is a cornflower,but it's a very nice shot!!

I grew up calling them bachelor buttons. Whatever the name it is a great shot! You captured such great light on it!

I think Carol may be right, but whatever, it's a stunning shot. Love the way it fades out of focus into the background.

I've got a feeling this is Greater Knapweed (Centaurea scabiosa). The Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) flowers aren't as 'ragged' and appear to be a definite blue.

Alternatively it could be Perennial Cornflower (Centaurea montana) - looks to be the closest match flower structure and colour-wise.

Whatever it is it's a pretty shot. (But I'm sure it's not a Michaelmas daisy.)

@carolmw @soboy5 @grammyn @busylady @ellyukrm @mejbronant @whitelily @piedfly @myautofocuslife @sunnygreenwood Many thanks for your kind comments. I don't know why I even thought it was a Michaelmas Daisy (they come much later in the year). I think it is more likely to be a centaurea montana especiallly as 2 people have suggested this
