Cardington Hangers at dusk

Taken as I left work. These hangers are famous for housing the R101 which crashed sometime during the 2nd World War I think. I should read up more about it. I must google to find out the history of Hammer Hill which leads to Deadmans Cross as I often wonder how they got their name as I drive through there quite often. I must do that now while I think about it. Apparently Deadmans Cross gets its name because it is thought that there was once a gibbet there where they used to hang men out to dry (I mean die).
I remember those hangars, Rosie. They were visible from RAF Henlow where I did part of my National Service training in 1950. That's a long time ago now, so thanks for the memory. I don't know if the old camp still exists though.

Yes RAF Henlow is still there Arthur - part of the old camp houses civilians but they do have some RAF personnel there.

Yep. It's still there and just down the road from us! Am under the impression the place is now more for flight training....

Rosie! They're sheds! ;) Planes live in hangars, airships live in sheds.
