Tomorrow, Sunday, it is the turn of Msida to celebrate its annual festa (there may be other town /villages doing the same on the same day). I have gone to capture the church front – would have liked to capture the surroundings illuminated with hundreds of thousands of bulbs of different colours but it was impossible because of the traffic and the trees which hid the view. Msida is situated half way between Sliema and Valletta. It is built around a valley which brings down rain water even from as far away (in Maltese standards) as Rabat to the sea. Msida Parish church, dedicated to St Joseph came into use in 1889, although the parish was established in 1867. At its inception, the church faced the Msida Creek inlet. Today most of the land in front of the church has been reclaimed and the creek has been sheltered by a breakwater for a yacht marina.
