CAERNARFON CASTLE (4) – Medals, medals and more medals
Just back from some shopping with my wife. We are going through a thunderstorm with black skies, rain, lightnings and strong winds (nothing like we encountered in Wales).
Seems that either medals are cheap to obtain in Wales or that the Welsh are very courageous, considering this great amount of medals exhibited in this museum of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in two towers of the castle. Who can tell how much blood was shed, both of friend and foe, for people to earn all these medals?
Since its formation in 1689, the Royal Welch has served throughout the world. Its history includes the eighteenth century campaigns of Marlborough, the American War of Independence, the wars with Revolutionary and Napoleonic France and the Crimean War. The Regiment has seen action in the Boer War, China, First and Second World Wars and numerous postwar peacekeeping missions including Bosnia in 1995.
i was surprised that white cabbage butterflies are also found in europe, they certainly are great survivors
