Last Saturday, 19th May, would have been my mother’s birthday. She went to meet the Risen Lord 8 years ago. Being her would-be birthday and also because the previous Sunday was Mothers’ Day, together with 2 of my brothers, I went to the Addolorata Cemetery to visit and say a short prayer on her grave. My dad is there too – he died last October. The grave belongs to my sister, hence Sacco family. With them are buried my sister’s parents-in-laws. The plaque on the right of the left picture commemorates my parents, the one on the left are my sister’s in-laws.
I am not one who likes going to cemeteries but I really felt moved being there. They were such great parents and their love for us was immense, even when we left home and got married. They will always be in our hearts.
Thank you so much for looking and for your lovely comments on yesterday's picture.
Beautiful shots, and a lovely tribute to your parents. (There are hardly any cemeteries left in my country. Lack of space, so cremation is the solution. Ashes are placed in columbariums.)
What a wonderful blessing you had to have loving and caring parents. I was not so fortunate and really, appreciate it when I hear that someone had a supportive pair. I sure they were very proud of you.
You have a lovely remembrance of your parents here. I am not one to visit gravesites often either, but every now and then we do take comfort in them, don't we? It seems like there is still a connection to that person somehow at that place. Beautiful tribute Dione!
