Another shot at the ‘Valletta’ Sunday flea market. The florist rests side by side with the jeans/shirt vendor; if you look closely you will see, hanging above the florist’s stall, plastic bags filled with water each with gold fish for sale. I bought some seedlings from that florist.
The Valletta flea market brings back so many happy memories of my late father who died in October, 2011 (when I was abroad, alas). He used to love to come to this place on Sundays. Till a few weeks before his death at 96 (less 3 weeks) he used to come here, sometimes even by himself and go round the stalls buying – what for him - were necessatives. One of them was Brylcream, a cream for his hair because he used to say he couldn’t find it in the shops in his locality. He used to buy also a lot of chocolates and other sweets (who said they may cause diabetes?). I used to enjoy every now and then to phone him up Saturday nights and ask him if he would come with me there. He used to jump to the occasion. I still miss him.
I remember Brylcream! There are some things or places that will always trigger a fond memory of the ones we love. You have some very special memories there. I like the way you've used the selective coloring here. At first I didn't notice it because it blends well! Nice shot for some happy memories.
I am sure you miss him! he sounds like a great guy! the market shot is really nice, showing the business and all. Did you notice one bag of fish make a very nice hat for the man standing? lol
Oh, Dione, this is a sweet story, and I'm glad you can visit this place and think of your father. What a blessing to have him in your life for so long, but I know it feels too short.
@nanalisarocks Thank you so much for your wonderful comments and for your understanding. There are always situations which make one think of one's loved ones who are gone forever.
