Jeff and Nick are now the heroes of the Sliema gulls. Jeff, especially, is enjoying being in the limelight while the other gulls listen in awe to his bragging stories.
Jeff: “……….and so we stopped at this beach on our way to Geelong. There were so many beautiful human females, all of them scarcely covered. They were all very enthusiastic about me, all of them came to me patted my head and asked me to preen my feathers for them; chips came from all around. The gulls of the area also fell for me, especially, their Miss Australia leader, Suzie. She went crazy for me and did cartwheels and everything she could do to keep my attention. She wanted me stay with her forever. …….”
Nick, in an undertone: “Bullshit, just f***ing bullshit.”
Mystery Man: “I heard that, boy. What’s your name?”
Nick: “Nick, and what’s yours?”
Mystery Man: “You can call me Jon. I want to make you and your friend famous worldwide.”
Nick: “Not interested, I’m famous enough already.”
Mystery Man: “I will make you as rich as Bill Gates, if you accept my proposal.”
Nick: “Don’t need your money.”
Mystery Man: “Let me explain. I am a story writer and if you let me write your story we will become rich and you can use your share of the money any way you like. If you don’t want to use it yourself you could use it for charity initiatives. One option could be to build a respite centre for aging gulls or for those chicks who lose their parents and have nobody to care for them.”
Nick: “Looking at it in this way, it is worth giving your proposal a thought. I don’t need the money for myself but for a cause like one of these I will join your project. Shall I include my friend there?”
Mystery Man: “Oh, of course. He could put in some of his bragging ideas. We can start tomorrow. I will come and collect you two at 10.00 am and we can go to my office.”
Nick: “Righto. Will be waiting here.” Speaking to himself:” This guy looks like Jason Daniels of 365”
