23rd August – Panorama of Lake Bled from Bled Castle. Bled castle was our second visit of the day.
This is a merge of 4 pictures from the many I took of the lake. This shot shows one side of the lake with Bled Island cut off from the mainland.
Lake Bled is in the Julian Alps; it is of mixed glacial and tectonic origins. It is 2,120 m (6,960 ft) long and 1,380 m (4,530 ft) wide, with a maximum depth of 30.6 m (100 ft). The lake is surrounded by mountains and forests. The lake hosted the World Rowing Championships in 1966, 1979, 1989 and 2011 and, with its still waters, it is no wonder that it has been selected for these competitions so many times.
I think I see the Loch Ness Monster out there... What an amazing shot, the water is like glass. I hope Nick and Jeff are comfortable in the witness protection program
