Shot taken on Saturday, 8 February at Nadur, Gozo. Posted socc. Best viewed large.
The weather forecast for the duration of our stay in Gozo was very favourable with sunshine every day. So, on Friday night, before going to bed I had set my mind to wake up early and go to Nadur to take some shots of the sunrise over the Malta-Gozo channel. I roped in my brother to come along with me. The sky was still dark when we left my sister’s apartment and there was a very slight drizzle which I was convinced would soon pass. At Nadur, I set up my tripod (one of the very few occasions I used it) and waited for sunrise. But it seems that the sun wasn’t of the same mind. Instead it was completely covered by thick clouds. After a few attempts to capture the atmosphere of the moment we packed up and returned to the apartment. To complete the disappointment, the sun came out brightly at around 8.30 when it was already high in the sky. This is one of the shots I took at the time when the sun should have been appearing on the horizon.
Thank you very much for looking and for your lovely comments on yesterday’s picture.
That's the way it happens Dione, I face that situation quite often. You just have to treasure those days when the sunrise is magical 8-) Not a bad result despite the setback.
what a disappointment - to have made the effort to be there and for the sun not to come out! However this still makes a lovely night shot - with some light in the sky and dramatic clouds as well as the night lights still being on! lovely shot!
Such a disappointment- but in the end I still think it's a charming shot. And although you took it at "sunrise", to me it looks like it could be dusk and is quite pretty.
